Evernote: "3 Surprising Secrets to Maintaining Your Focus"

In addition to writing extensively for the Evernote blog, I also created a number of pieces for the company's Medium publication, Taking Note. These were 'thought leadership' posts designed to position Evernote as an expert in the productivity and organization space, presenting a point of view or useful advice with little to no overt mention of the product. For this post, as usual, I identified a relevant topic, researched it extensively, then crafted my findings into an engaging post.

Evernote: "4 Simple Ways to Break Your Bad Habits"

The new year is traditionally a time for fresh starts. It's also Evernote's busiest time of the year, as people look for ways to make reaching their goals easier. For 2020, I planned a year-long series of blog posts to guide readers on that journey, focusing each month on a different life skill. Of course, that year didn't turn out as anyone planned, but to start the series, I uncovered ways to overcome bad habits and synthesized my findings into this well-received post.

Glassdoor: "The Huffington Post Has Advice for Job Seekers. That's Good News for Employers"

A large part of any successful marketing strategy is effectively leveraging publicity—and when your name is mentioned on one of the most visited websites in the world, it pays to make the most of it. For this blog post, I used an article that was published on the Huffington Post for job seekers, identified the value proposition for our target B2B audience, and created a compelling narrative to match.

Glassdoor: "How to Recruit Me: Software Engineer"

The premise of this post is that of a software engineer speaking directly to the reader and offering advice on what they are looking for in a job. To achieve this, I researched numerous studies on employee sentiment as well as Glassdoor's internal sample data to come up with a compelling argument.

Crunchbase: "Buy Signals in the Startup Economy"

In writing this post, I was again responsible for researching the topic and finding a compelling, defensible angle that would provide the reader with value and insight into the topic. As is often the case, this article had several stakeholders whose concerns all needed to be addressed during the editing process.

Druva: "4 Lessons from Recent Data Breaches"

This blog post started out as a long Q&A session that contained several gems of actionable advice. My task was to condense the source material into an engaging, easily digestible piece of content. I clarified the message while crafting a compelling narrative—as though the bylined author were speaking directly to the reader.

Glassdoor UK: "Expedia's 6 Tips for a Winning Company Culture"

The annual "Best Places to Work" list is Glassdoor's most important marketing outreach and it is leveraged in many different ways. In this case, I created a blog feature using the UK winner as an example of how companies can position themselves for future success. I crafted Expedia's responses to a survey form into a narrative that any company could use.

Perforce Software: "Component-Based Development, Lego, and the Internet of Things"

The seed for this blog post came from a humble comment thrown out by a team member. I immediately realized that it would make an entertaining subject for a post and asked for more detail. We discussed the concept, then I took the idea and gave it life. Once the technical details were checked, we were ready to publish.
